BBA Marks Pro Bono Month with a Renewed Call to Service
Every year, attorneys across Greater Boston donate thousands of hours of legal services and contribute financially to organizations that help people who cannot afford a lawyer. In recognition of that service, the BBA Council adopted a resolution honoring October as Pro Bono Month, reaffirming our commitment to expanding access to justice.
The resolution recognizes both the fundamental promise of equal justice under law and the persistent gap between that promise and the help available to people with limited resources. The BBA works throughout the year to close that gap by connecting members with volunteer opportunities and recognizing outstanding service, most recently at September’s Spirit of the Bar event.
At the BBA’s request, Governor Maura Healey again issued a proclamation declaring October Pro Bono Month statewide. Join us in celebrating by exploring our Pro Bono Month calendar or training and volunteer opportunities. Whether you take on a case or contribute to a legal services organization, your support can help address the unmet need for legal services across Greater Boston’s most vulnerable communities.
