JCRC Urges Governor Healey to Opt In to Federal Education Scholarships Tax Credit Program

JCRC of Greater Boston has formally urged Governor Maura Healey and Secretary of Education Stephen Zrike to opt Massachusetts into the federal Education Scholarships Tax Credit (ESTC) program, joining a broad coalition of civic, business, and community organizations advocating for the Commonwealth's participation.

Our letter outlines the principles guiding JCRC's advocacy: when federal resources can expand educational opportunities for children in both public and non-public schools, without drawing on the state budget, Massachusetts should pursue them.

With many states already announcing plans to participate, Massachusetts faces an important decision about whether these resources will benefit students and families here at home or be directed elsewhere.
