New Bedford Health Department Encourages Residents to Take Massachusetts Community Health Equity Survey

 

NEW BEDFORD–The New Bedford Health Department is encouraging residents to take the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH)’s Community Health Equity Survey.

The online survey is open until the end of November, and available to anyone 12 or older. Taking the survey helps DPH understand the experiences of cities and towns across the state, and helps guide decisions on funding, resources, programs, and policy changes to reduce preventable differences in health outcomes between groups.

Cities and towns that collect enough survey responses will have access to their own data, as well as statewide data, which can be used locally to guide community planning, policies, and resource allocation to better meet the public’s needs.

The survey is anonymous; it does not ask for name, address, or any contact information. Questions are demographic in nature and cover a range of topics related to a person’s experiences.

It takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and is available in 11 languages, including English, Arabic, Cape Verdean Creole, Chinese (simplified or traditional), Haitian Creole, Khmer, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The survey will also soon be available in American Sign Language.
