Town of Dudley sets Public Information Meeting Regarding Sept. 29 Special Election

 

The Dudley Board of Selectmen has called a special election seeking voter approval for two ballot questions.

 

The Board has set a Public Information Meeting for 6:30 p.m. September 14 at the Dudley Municipal Complex, 71 West Main Street, where Dudley residents are invited to learn more about the Town’s Special Election comprising two ballot questions. 

 

Question 1 seeks voter approval to override the limits of Proposition 2½ for $717,630 to protect Police, Fire, and Highway servicesfrom budget cuts. 

 

Question 2 seeks voter approval to debt exclude from the limits of Proposition 2½ a sum of $5,018,583 over 14 years to fund the Town’s share of Dudley-Charlton Regional School District’s proposed capital borrowing.

 

The Dudley-Charlton Regional School Committee has called a district-wide special election in both Dudley and Charlton seeking voter approval to borrow $11,183,734 for capital improvements across all seven district schools.

Polls will be open for both special elections from noon to 8 p.m. on September 29 at the Dudley Municipal Complex.
