Progressive Democrats of America, Massachusetts Chapter, Endorses Exemplary Candidates for Congress in September 1st Primary

BOSTON, MA – The Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) Massachusetts state chapter today announced its enthusiastic endorsement of four outstanding progressive candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives in the upcoming Massachusetts Democratic Party primaries, scheduled for September 1, 2026. These endorsements reflect PDA’s commitment to supporting candidates who champion progressive values and are dedicated to serving the needs of working families across the Commonwealth.
“We are thrilled to throw our full support behind these visionary leaders who embody the progressive spirit and are ready to fight for real change in Washington,” said Russell Freedman, PDA Massachusetts Chapter. “Each of these candidates has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to issues critical to our communities, from healthcare and education to economic justice and protecting our environment and people in need. We believe they will be powerful voices for the people of Massachusetts.”
Endorsed Candidates include: Incumbents Rep. James McGovern (MA-2), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (MA-7), and Sen. Ed Markey (US Senate) endorsed for re-election by PDA, whose exemplary service to the people of Massachusetts and the USA speaks for itself. Also, the following challengers:
Jeromie Whalen (Massachusetts’ 1st Congressional District): A dedicated public school teacher, Jeromie is running an energetic campaign focused on accessibility and accountability. He emphasizes priorities including education, healthcare, and a living wage, and has highlighted the incumbent U.S. Rep. Richard Neal’s lack of leadership and reliance on special interest PAC money. Whalen’s grassroots campaign is actively engaging voters through phone banking, canvassing, and postcarding.
Jason Poulos (Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District): An independent researcher with expertise in artificial intelligence and tech policy, Jason is challenging incumbent Rep. Jake Auchincloss. Jason is rejecting corporate PAC, crypto, and AIPAC money. His platform addresses the disruptive impact of AI, proposing interconnected solutions including Medicare for All, Universal Basic Income, corporate taxes on automation, and strengthened collective bargaining rights to ensure economic security and fairness in a rapidly changing economy.
Jonathan Paz (Massachusetts’ 5th Congressional District): A former Waltham city councilor, Jonathan has a strong background in political activism, notably his work on immigration policy. His priority issues include a “Good Life Economy” with higher wages and consumer protections, Medicare for All, free high-quality childcare, a Green energy revolution to create union jobs, housing for people not profit, abolishing ICE and fostering a humane immigration policy, universal education, disability justice, holding big tech accountable, and powerful anti-corruption measures including breaking up monopolies.
Craig Swallow (Massachusetts’ 9th Congressional District): Craig’s campaign is focused on affordability, accountability, and support for the working class. He aims to restore trust in the democratic process through constant communication and transparency with constituents. He advocates for healthcare as a human right, and is driven by a commitment to education, equity, and opportunity for all. In this, he represents a new generation of leadership focused on building a thriving community for everyone, not just the privileged, powerful few.
These endorsements underscore PDA Massachusetts’ dedication to electing progressive champions who will advocate for policies that benefit all residents of the Commonwealth. The chapter urges voters to support all of these candidates in the September 1st primary.
