Mayor to Present Proclamation Honoring Historic Post Office to Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary
Civic event recognizes one of the original 62 Post Offices that has served its community since 1775
WORCESTER, MA — Members of the media are invited to attend a civic event at the Worcester Post Office, where Joseph Petty, mayor of Worcester, will present a formal proclamation recognizing the Post Office’s historic role in serving the community and the nation.
The event is part of the U.S. Postal Service’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The Worcester Post Office is one of the original 62 Post Offices that has remained open and serving customers since 1775.
The program will include remarks from local leaders, a formal presentation of the proclamation to Christopher Downer, postmaster of Worcester, and a brief recognition of the Post Office’s enduring connection to the community.
