Press Release: 6/17/2026

Urge Your State Representative:Ā Strengthen the Mass Ready Act.

Massachusetts is preparing to make major investments in climate resilience and environmental protection. The House is reviewing the Mass Ready Act (H.5510) – an environmental bond bill that will shape how we protect our communities and natural resources for years to come.

In April, hundreds of you called on the Legislature to secure a strong Senate version of the Mass Ready Act, helping secure important investments in climate resilience, clean water, and drought management. Today, we need your help again to ensure the House advances the strongest possible bill

The bill is a strong starting point, but it must go further to meet the scale of the challenges ahead. Communities are already facing worsening climate impacts, aging water systems, and gaps in air quality monitoring. At the same time, uncertainty around federal funding means Massachusetts must be ready to meet our residents’ needs.

Urge your State Representative TODAY to strengthen the Mass Ready Act.

ELM is calling for targeted investments and complementary policies that will:

  • Expand support for climate resiliency projects so cities and towns can plan for climate impacts

  • Increase funding for water infrastructure, as well as PFAS mitigation and ecological restoration

  • Implement smart, science-based drought management policy to improve water resource conservation statewide

  • Strengthen air quality monitoring and pollution reduction efforts to protect vulnerable communities and residents from harmful health impacts

  • Protect public health by reducing plastic waste and funding statewide recycling programs for sensitive materials.

The decisions made in this bill will have long-term impacts on our environment, public health, and economy.

Ask your Representative to act now and deliver a stronger, more resilient future for Massachusetts
