Tell Gov. Healey & the Senate They Must Reject House Audit Bill
Last week, the Massachusetts House voted 125-28 to pass legislation that would greatly narrow the scope of the voter-approved legislative audit law and redefine how the audit is conducted.
The bill was released less than 24 hours before the vote, received no public hearing, and was rushed through the House despite strong objections from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. Now the fight moves to the Senate and Governor Healey.

MassFiscal has launched a new grassroots call to action campaign urging Massachusetts residents to tell their State Senators and Governor Healey to reject the House proposal. Auditor Diana DiZoglio is joining us in this effort and is encouraging voters to make their voices heard.
The House bill is being marketed as a transparency package. But at its core, it severely waters down the audit law approved by nearly 72% of Massachusetts voters. The proposal would limit what can be reviewed, narrow the scope of the audit, and prevent courts from resolving disputes between the Auditor and the Legislature.
Even more troubling, the bill arrived just days after the Supreme Judicial Court ruled that Auditor DiZoglio could proceed with seeking records from the Legislature. Instead of allowing that process to continue, House leadership responded by advancing legislation that rewrites the terms of the audit itself so they can control it.
The question before the Senate is straightforward: Should the Legislature comply with the law voters passed, or should it rewrite that law when it becomes inconvenient?
The Senate and Governor Healey now have an opportunity to stop this effort and preserve the audit law voters approved.
Please take a moment today to contact your State Senator and Governor Healey and urge them to reject the House proposal: https://www.votervoice.net/MASSFISCAL/campaigns/137949/respond
Thank you for standing with us in the fight for transparency and accountability on Beacon Hill.
