As you know, NASW-MA is working hard to get the Social Work Interstate Compact passed into law this session! The State Senate has announced that they will be working on an all-encompassing Child Welfare bill this week, and we have asked Senator Patricia Jehlen to file the compact as an amendment to this omnibus bill.
Can you reach out to your State Senator and ask them to cosponsor Amendment #42, the Social Work Interstate Compact?
Passage of the Compact would allow social workers to see clients in other compact states as long they have a compact license from their home state. This compact increases continuity of care for residents in Massachusetts and increases access to mental health services.
The Child Welfare bill is going to be a major omnibus bill, which means that it will have several bills competing to be attached as amendments to the final version. Can you send a message to your state senator asking them to cosponsor the Social Work Interstate Compact, Amendment #42?
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out me anytime!
