Whip Clark Secures $1.5 Million for Clean Drinking Water, Fighting Climate Change in MA-5
June 2, 2026
MALDEN, MA – Yesterday, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) joined state and local leaders to celebrate $1.5 million in federal investments that she secured to make life safer and easier for working families in MA-5.
In Wellesley, she joined with local leaders to celebrate $500,000 in federal funding she brought home to improve the area’s tree canopy and bolster natural stormwater management throughout the Charles River Watershed.
Whip Clark later joined leaders in Natick to celebrate over $1 million in funding she secured to construct a water booster pump station, which will provide a supplementary source of safe drinking water to Natick residents.
“At a time when progress can seem so hard to come by in Washington, I’m proud to be working alongside so many local leaders to make a real difference here at home,” said Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. “Together, we brought home $1.5 million to build the cleaner, more climate-resilient future our children deserve. These investments are a major win for our community and a perfect example of how government can deliver results when serious leaders come together and focus on solutions.”
“We are extremely grateful to Congresswoman Clark for this funding which will allow us to build climate resilience all across the watershed through expanding tree canopy, helping ensure the health of our existing trees, and reducing pollution to the Charles,” said Executive Director of the Charles River Watershed, Emily Norton.
“The Town of Natick would like to express our gratitude to Congresswoman Clark and her dedicated staff for supporting the Water Department by securing a grant of over $1,000,000 through the Community Project Funding Program. This crucial investment represents far more than a dollar figure; it is a commitment to the well-being of our nearly 40,000 residents by providing a reliable and safe supplemental water source for our community,” said Executive Director of Public Works William Spratt.
“It was an honor to welcome Minority Whip Clark to Wellesley Town Hall to acknowledge and thank her for her leadership on key environmental issues affecting our community. Wellesley, in partnership with the Charles River Watershed Association, will use this community project funding to advance tree planting and green infrastructure as we work to find local solutions to combat climate change,” said Director of Wellesley Natural Resources Commission, Brandon Schmitt.
