Steve Snider Elected Chair of Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance

I wanted to share an important leadership update from the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance.

The Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance has elected Steve Snider to serve as Chair of the organization. Snider, a current board member, succeeds Ann Sullivan, who is stepping down from the role after three years of leadership and will remain on the Board.

Steve Snider

Chair, Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance

Steve brings a diverse and accomplished background spanning military service, finance, engineering, and nonprofit leadership. A graduate of MIT with degrees in Chemical Engineering and Soviet Studies, Snider served eight years as a naval officer, including assignments as both an engineering officer and weapons officer. He later earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and spent two decades at Fidelity Investments as an analyst and portfolio manager.

Following his retirement from Fidelity, Snider pursued further education in sustainable residential design at the Boston Architectural College, earning both LEED AP® accreditation and Passive House Consultant® certification. He subsequently founded a real estate development firm focused on energy-efficient renovations.

Snider also brings significant nonprofit governance experience, having served on multiple boards, including organizations in the arts, education, and local history, as well as Fiscal Partners, Inc. since 2023.

He assumes the role at a time when Massachusetts taxpayers continue to face rising costs, economic uncertainty, and growing concerns about accountability on Beacon Hill.

On his new role, Steve has this to say: “I am honored to step into this role at such a critical time for our Commonwealth. Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance plays a vital role in holding government accountable and ensuring taxpayers have a strong voice on Beacon Hill. I look forward to building on the organization’s successes and continuing to advocate for fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability, and economic competitiveness."

Snider takes the reins from Ann Sullivan, who has served as Chair since 2023. During her tenure, the organization experienced significant growth, expanding its media and communications footprint by building a dedicated media teamdramatically increasing its social media reach, and more aggressively reporting on and exposing some of the most pressing and controversial issues facing Massachusetts taxpayers.

We want to thank Ann Sullivan for her leadership and dedication to this organization. Ann helped guide MassFiscal through an important period of growth and impact, and we are grateful that she will continue to serve on the Board. Steve brings a depth of experience and a strong commitment to our mission that will ensure MassFiscal remains a leading voice for taxpayers.

Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance will continue to hold Beacon Hill accountable, challenge policies that drive up costs, and advocate for a more competitive and affordable state. That mission does not change with leadership transitions, it only grows stronger.
