Statement Regarding Recent Activity of Homeland Security Investigations in the City of Marlborough

MARLBOROUGH, MA – On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, agents from Homeland Security

Investigations (HSI) were in the City of Marlborough. During the afternoon, HSI agents took

individuals into custody, including a fourteen-year-old juvenile. At no time were any of these

individuals transferred into custody of the Marlborough Police Department. Additionally, the

Marlborough Police Department was not involved in transporting any of the individuals to a facility in

Marlborough or to any other local, state or federal location.

The Mayor and city leadership want to reaffirm our statement from January 30, 2025, to reassure

residents that Marlborough is a community that values dignity, respect, and inclusion for all who

live here. The City continues to support a diverse community and is committed to ensuring that every

resident feels safe, respected, and welcome.

It is upsetting to witness these incidents that are deeply affecting our community. It is unfortunate

that an isolated open investigation has caused unsettling doubt that our Marlborough Police

Department would act in a way to harm the community it serves when they were only trying to assist

in reuniting a minor with their guardian.

Initial information suggested that the juvenile may have been a student in Marlborough Public

Schools; however, it has since been confirmed that she is not enrolled in any school in the

Marlborough School district.

Marlborough Public Schools would like to reaffirm to families and community members that all

children have the right to equal access to public education. The district deeply values every student

and remains committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all

members of its school community.

There is and never has been any directive from the Mayor’s Office to assist with the enforcement of

federal immigration law by the Marlborough Police Department or any City Department. The

Marlborough Police Department remains dedicated to protecting public safety and maintaining the

trust of our community.

Questions can be addressed to the Mayor’s Office 508-460-3770.
