2026 MA Tech Leadership Awards: A Reflection

A Night That Was More Than an Awards Ceremony
Last Thursday night, as the room filled and conversations sparked, I realized I was seeing something far more meaningful than an awards ceremony unfold. I watched leaders, founders, operators, and investors quietly affirm their commitment to the Massachusetts tech community in a way no stage or script could capture.
What stays with me most was the feeling in the room, that shared sense of purpose and connection behind the thank you speeches. Our innovation economy has always run on relationships and trust. On March 19 I could see it in real time, people choosing to invest in the ecosystem that has shaped their own journeys, just as it has shaped mine.
The Leadership Awards as a Community Moment
For me, the MA Tech Leadership Awards was a beautiful cross section of the Massachusetts tech landscape came together. Early-stage founders stood beside enterprise executives. Emerging leaders found themselves in conversation with seasoned operators. I felt like the full arc of our ecosystem was visible in one room. It was a rare moment where different phases of growth and experience met with real curiosity and care.
We recognized leadership across fourteen categories this year. What mattered more to me than any single winner was the broader story I saw in that room. Leaders continue to choose to build, hire, and grow in Massachusetts, even when other markets call. That choice is not theoretical. It lives in the people who do that work.
I am proud that this program is grounded in real work too. The nominations, the judging, and the shaping of this year’s finalists came from people who care deeply about elevating Massachusetts talent and leadership. That authenticity is part of why this night never feels routine to me.
What Your Presence Signaled
When you stepped into the room as a nominator, a judge, an honoree, or a guest, you helped show me, and each other, what leadership looks like in this ecosystem right now. You validated founders planting roots in Massachusetts. You validated operators investing in their teams. You validated companies choosing growth here when they could build anywhere.
I was especially moved by how many emerging leaders were in the room. I saw people early in their careers watching how seasoned leaders make space for others. Those moments cannot be manufactured. They only happen when a community chooses to be intentional about how it leads.
Where We Go From Here
Since that night, I have been replaying snippets of conversations I overheard. Partnerships forming. Ideas taking shape. Rising leaders becoming newly visible to someone who could open a door.
If there is one call I want to make, it is this. Do not let those moments stay in that room. Bring them back to your team. Share the stories that inspired you. Invite others into the conversations you started.
And if you noticed a gap, a leader not yet recognized, a product team doing quiet but remarkable work, please help us surface it for next year. This program is strongest when it reflects the full richness of our community, not just the most visible parts. Nights like this happen because so many of you show up with generosity, judgment, and care.
Leadership in this ecosystem has always been a shared act, and recognition is, too. I feel lucky to be in it with you.
