Best Friends Animal Society awards $50,000 to help Boston-based nonprofit save more than 4,000 animals

BOSTON, March 6, 2026 – The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA-Angell) has been awarded a Rachael Ray Save Them All grant from Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization working to save cats and dogs in America’s shelters.

This competitive grant of $50,000 fosters lifesaving in Massachusetts by supporting the MSPCA-Angell’s mentorship of Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center (TJO) through the Massachusetts Animal Shelter Support (MASS) coalition. The partnership is focused on systemic improvements to reduce euthanasia, improve live-release rates, and stabilize operations for long-term impact, benefitting more than 4,000 animals.

“Since its formation in the summer of 2024, the MASS coalition has positively impacted the lives of countless animals across Massachusetts,” said MSPCA-Angell President, Neal Litvack. “Thanks to this Rachael Ray Save Them All grant and the support of our generous donors, we’ll be able to save countless animals for years to come.”

The MSPCA-Angell is one of 53 shelters and rescues from across the country to be awarded Rachael Ray Save Them All and Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence grants in 2026. The grants in total are projected to save or impact over 19,000 cats and dogs.

“The MSPCA-Angell was selected among 320 applicants to receive a Rachael Ray Save Them All Grant because of its innovation, dedication, commitment, and readiness to save pets’ lives,” said Whitney Bollinger, Director of Strategy & Network Operations, Best Friends Animal Society. “We are so proud to provide grant funding to support the MSPCA-Angell’s critical lifesaving work in Massachusetts!”

The Rachael Ray Save Them All Grants is a grant program, administered by Best Friends and funded by The Rachael Ray Foundation™, that provides grants to shelters for euthanasia reduction initiatives. The Rachael Ray Foundation helps animals in need and is funded by a portion of proceeds from each sale of Rachael’s pet food, Nutrish®.
