GIFFORDS PAC endorses Maura Healey for governor of Massachusetts

WASHINGTON —   GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement endorsing Governor Maura Healey as she runs for reelection in Massachusetts.

“Governor Healey has gone above and beyond in the fight to protect Massachusetts families from gun violence. Under her leadership as attorney general and governor, Massachusetts has fought back against untraceable ghost guns, worked to prohibit assault weapons, supported efforts to get illegal guns off the street, and much more,” said Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “Governor Healey has also backed survivors and challenged the gun lobby. I’m proud to endorse her reelection campaign, and know that with another term in office, Massachusetts will continue to be a national example of the power of public safety measures.”

Throughout her career, Governor Maura Healey has worked across party lines with local, state and federal officials as well as members of law enforcement to support commonsense gun reforms. From signing a ban on 3D-printed ghost guns, to strengthening red flag laws, and allocating significant funding for community violence intervention efforts, Governor Healey’s leadership has created real change for Massachusetts. Prior to her time in office, Governor Healey served as her state’s attorney general, where she successfully defended several challenges to her state’s strong gun laws in court and prosecuted numerous gun traffickers who willfully violated the law.
