MARLBOROUGH, MA – Mayor J. Christian Dumais announces a new rate for our municipal
aggregation plan supplied by Colonial Power.
The City of Marlborough has signed a contract with supplier, First Point Power. Beginning March 2026,
the Marlborough Community Choice Power Supply Program will have a new rate of $0.14919 per kWh
for a 100 percent green product derived from National Wind Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
For Marlborough residents and businesses who are enrolled in the City’s Program, the current rate of
$0.13782 per kWh will expire and the new rate of $0.14919 per kWh will take effect with the March 2026
meter reads. This represents an increase of just under $7.00 per month on the supply side of the bill given
average usage of 600 kWh. However, this new rate is lower than National Grid’s recently announced
Residential Basic Service rate of $0.15372 per kWh with projected rate increase August 1, 2026, to
$0.16900.
“The City is happy to continue to offer this program to provide cost savings to our residents on their
electricity. Residents who participate in the program will continue to see savings over National Grid’s
basic service rates. I would like to thank the Municipal Aggregation Committee for their hard work in
monitoring and comparing rates to help keep costs low for our residents”, said Mayor J. Christian
Dumais.
Marlborough launched its electricity program in June 2007 to develop an energy program that would be
stable and affordable. From inception the Program has saved residents and small businesses millions of
dollars in electricity costs as compared to National Grid’s Basic Service plan.
It is important to note that no action will be required by individual consumers. This change will be seen
on March 2026 bills. All accounts currently enrolled in the Program will see the new rate and First Point
Power under the “Supply Services” section of their monthly bill.
