Whip Clark Statement on Being Denied Entry to Burlington ICE Facility
February 9, 2026
BURLINGTON, MA — Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement after being denied entry to the ICE facility in Burlington, Massachusetts:
“Members of Congress have the right and responsibility to conduct oversight. That duty includes carrying out inspections of ICE facilities. Last week, a federal court ordered the Trump administration to allow Members to fulfill that duty — yet today, I was denied access to the ICE field office in Burlington.
“Under Donald Trump and Kristi Noem, ICE has murdered innocent Americans and terrorized law-abiding immigrant families. Republicans have taken away resources from DHS programs that actually keep Americans safe — like fighting human trafficking, disrupting fentanyl pipelines, and boosting cybersecurity efforts — in order to unleash cruelty and chaos into our communities. At the Burlington facility, we have seen reports of inhumane conditions and its illegal use as a detention center.
“Kristi Noem must be removed immediately, and this version of ICE needs a complete overhaul. It should be required to abide by the same rules as any other law enforcement agency. I will keep fighting to demand change and accountability from ICE. Families in Massachusetts and across the country deserve nothing less.”
