(BOSTON — 1/25/2026) Today, Massachusetts Senate President Karen E. Spilka made the following statement regarding the murder of Alex Pretti.

“So many of us have families that came to America to escape the very lawlessness and violence that ICE is now bringing to our streets. With the repulsive murder of Alex Pretti, the Trump Administration has further demonstrated that it views American citizens exercising their Constitutional rights as a threat.

It is impossible to overstate how dangerous this is.

We must all stand with the people of Minnesota and do whatever we can to fight for the rule of law and our democracy. The Massachusetts State Senate will continue to work to protect our residents and defend our values right here at home.”
