TUESDAY: Protect Our Care Town Hall: Stop the Cuts with Corporate Fair Share (Boston, 10/14)
Massachusetts is facing the threat of deep federal budget cuts that will cost the state billions and hurt our healthcare, food assistance programs, education, infrastructure, and other public services.
But these cuts don't need to be inevitable.
Join us next Tuesday for a community town hall on Corporate Fair Share and other options to protect our state programs on October 14 at 5:30 PM at the Dewitt Center (122 Dewitt Drive) in Roxbury.
Raise Up Massachusetts is calling for a thoughtful use of state reserves and new revenues to protect our essential services. Key to that discussion is RUM's Corporate Fair Share proposal to combat offshore tax avoidance by asking the world’s most profitable mega-corporations to pay their fair share. It’s the fairest, simplest, and most popular way to defend public services like healthcare and education that we all rely upon!
At this meeting, we will talk about:
- The UGLY: The harm that the Republican "Big Ugly Bill" will cause in Massachusetts.
- The BAD: The impact that budget cuts are already having on your constituents.
- The GOOD: How Corporate Fair Share and a judicious use of state reserves can offset the budget cuts threatening our Commonwealth
