Social Work Compact Hearing Monday, September 8th, at 10:00am

A hearing has been scheduled for on Monday, September 8th at 10:00 am for An Act establishing the social work licensure compact in Massachusetts, and I hope you will join us!

There are several ways you can help us in our advocacy:

2. Submit written testimony in support of the Social Work Licensure Compact! Access the written testimony template here, but please wait until September 8th to send it to the joint committee.


3. Send me an email telling me why we need the Social Work Licensure Compact in Massachusetts. I may include your blurb in our organizational testimony.


4. Join us for a mini lobby day in support of the Social Work Compact and SUPER Act on September 17th at 10:30 am. RSVP here!

If passed, the Social Work Compact would:

• Would reduce barriers to license portability by allowing social workers with bachelor’s, master’s, and clinical licenses to serve clients in other compact states.

• Will provide continuity of care for clients who frequently relocate or travel, enhance public safety, allow states increased investigative ability with licensees to ensure ethical practice is upheld, and further expand the availability of unique services provided by social workers.

• The compact has been adopted in several states, each reflecting the same language as written in the model legislation. In the Northeastern United States, states such as Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island have all enacted the Social Work Licensure Compact.
