BOSTON, MA – The Boston Bar Foundation (BBF), which serves as the charitable arm of the Boston Bar Association, announced today that it will award $2 million in legal services grants for the 2025-2026 fiscal year to 53 local organizations in the Greater Boston area— marking an increase in both total funding and the number of recipient organizations compared to last year.

“These grants are more than just funding—they’re a statement of our values as a legal community,” said BBF President Megan N. Gates. “We’re proud to support organizations doing life-changing work, helping people who might otherwise fall through the cracks of the justice system.”

The organizations receiving BBF grants serve the needs of Greater Boston’s most vulnerable communities—including domestic violence survivors, immigrants, incarcerated individuals, low-income workers, veterans, children, and families in crisis.

The grants are funded through Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA), which generates income when attorneys hold client funds in trust. That money is then used to support civil legal aid efforts, ensuring access to justice for people who can’t afford legal representation in cases involving housing insecurity, discrimination, public benefits, education, family law, and more.

“Every grant we make has a ripple effect,” Gates added. “Whether it’s preventing an unjust eviction, securing safety for a family facing abuse, or helping someone navigate the immigration system, these dollars create real change in people’s lives.”

This year’s grant recipients include:
