API Congratulates President Trump and Congress on Pro-Growth Tax Bill

WASHINGTON, July 4, 2025 — American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers issued the following statement ahead of President Trump’s signing of the 2025 tax reconciliation bill:
“This is the most important energy bill in a generation. President Trump has delivered on his promise to unleash American energy by unlocking opportunities for investment, supporting global competitiveness and opening lease sales onshore and offshore from the Gulf of America to Alaska. We applaud President Trump and Congress on this historic legislation that cements American energy leadership for years to come and ushers in a new era of energy development.”
The 2025 tax reconciliation package significantly expands energy development by requiring 30 offshore lease sales in the Gulf and quarterly onshore lease sales. The legislation also advances sensible tax policy that supports continued investment in oil and natural gas production and helps American energy remain competitive in the global market.
