Vote Explainer — H. Res. 537 Impeaching Donald J. Trump

On June 24, Congressman Moulton voted to table the impeachment resolution, along with 128 House Democrats, because he does not believe this specific military operation constitutes an impeachable offense, which was the sole focus of the resolution. By that standard other presidents could also have been impeached for undertaking military operations, including President Obama in Libya.

Congressman Moulton has been clear in his belief that President Trump is unfit for office. He voted twice to impeach President Trump and is more than willing to do it again over any number of illegal offenses his administration may commit.

Congressman Moulton firmly believes that any effort to remove a president must not only meet a high constitutional standard but have a real chance of success. Removing President Trump would require support from at least five House Republicans and 17 Senate Republicans. Upholding the rule of law should not be a partisan issue, and Congressman Moulton will continue to push to insist that President Trump follow the law.
