POSTED ON: JUNE 26, 2025 - 3:52PM

NEWTON - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Newton Chief of Police George McMains have confirmed that Caleb Gannon, 32, of Newton was today placed on one-year pretrial probation with mandatory conditions, following an assault and battery that occurred in Newton on September 12, 2024.  Gannon must comply with the following conditions:

  • Complete an appropriate online course, which is mutually agreed upon, addressing civil discourse;

  • Stay away from and have no contact (direct or indirect) with the victim, his family or their residence;

  • Comply with mental health evaluation and treatment and/or continue with current mental health counseling;

If Gannon abides by the probationary conditions his case will be dismissed in September, 2025.  Should Gannon violate the conditions, his case will be scheduled for trial.

This resolution is the result of hundreds of hours of in-depth review and analysis by our legal and law enforcement experts.  It is the appropriate outcome given the facts of this particular case and the state of the evidence.
