Camargo to Lead AIM Membership Staff; Association Adds Key People Across Organization

A high-profile public-policy executive and former Cannabis Control Commissioner has joined Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM) to lead the association’s membership operations.



Nurys Camargo will become Vice President of Member Services at the statewide business association effective today. She will be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of membership growth, retention, and engagement strategies aligned with AIM’s strategic goals and objectives.



Ms. Camargo’s hiring is one of three additions to the AIM staff as the association expands its operations to meet the growing needs of 3,400 members throughout Massachusetts.



Julianne Ferro, most recently a human-resources professional at Boston Children’s Hospital, has joined AIM as Senior Coordinator of the Member Services Team. And Hannah Gould, a new graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, has been named Event Coordinator.



Nurys Camargo comes to AIM after spending four-and-a-half years as the Social Justice Appointee to the state commission overseeing the nascent cannabis industry in Massachusetts. She previously served for seven years as Regional Director of External Affairs for New England at AT&T.

Ms. Camargo has been named among the 100 most influential Bostonians by Bostonmagazine, and has received a bevy of awards, including the Amplify LatinX Award, the Hero Among Us Award from the Boston Celtics and the Feminist in Action Award from MassNow.



She holds a Masters of Public Administration, National Urban Fellow from the Baruch College School of Public Affairs in New York; a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, from Mount Ida College in Newton; a Corporate Executive Latino Leadership Certificate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas; a Next Generation Executive Leadership Development Program Certificate from The Partnership and a Latino Executive Mentorship and Leadership Development Program Certificate from Conexion.



Julianne Ferro will onboard, engage, support, and provide value for AIM member companies and organizations throughout the Commonwealth. She brings skills as a project manager responsible for leading training initiatives, implementing performance- management systems and conducting community outreach to key constituencies.



At Children’s Hospital, she was responsible for designing and facilitating onboarding sessions and program orientations. She also provided success coaching for workforce-development initiatives.



Ms. Ferro earned her Master of Arts in Applied Developmental and Educational Psychology from Boston College and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UMass.



Hannah Gould will help to organize and run some of the scores of policy and informational events that AIM provides to members each year.



She graduated from UMass Amherst last month with a B.S in Applied Plant and Soil Science and B.A in English. She was an Undergraduate Research Fellow for the Arthur F. Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies and a Student Advisor in the English Department.



Ms. Gould brings experience in areas ranging from organization and event setup to managing and coordinating event speakers.
