JUNE 20, 2025
Earlier this month at Hibernia Hall in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood, Strategies for Children’s staff and members of our Advocacy Network attended Boston Children’s Hospital’s annual convening of its funded partners. The event’s theme was “Building Collective Resilience.”
The hospital funds the Advocacy Network through the Boston Children’s Collaboration for Community Health.
Event speakers included:
- Dr. Shari Nethersole, Vice President for Community Health and Engagement
- spoken word artist Amanda Shea, and
- Debbie Lay, Senior Project Manager in the Office of Community Health, who led a mindfulness moment
Danielle Pazos, Maribel Carvajal, and Elizabeth Walsh of the Advocacy Network attended the event along with Titus DosRemedios, Strategies’ deputy director.
“An interactive art activity brought everyone together,” the event website explains. (See the picture at the top of the blog.) “Participants decorated puzzle pieces with pencils and watercolors, and words and thoughts about what collective resilience means to their organization. Each vibrant and unique piece created a large puzzle based on the artwork ‘Community’ by MassArt students Kobe Christie, Shaniel Hernandez, Giselle Rodriguez, Derrick Rogers Jr., and A’myah Williams.”
During a panel discussion, participants were encouraged to think deeply about “how individuals and organizations can build collective resilience and take action.”
We are grateful to Boston Children’s Collaboration for Community Health for their support! And we’re excited to continue doing this work.
