Supreme Court Upholds Ban on Gender Transition Procedures for Minors

Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a major victory for children and families in United States v. Skrmetti, upholding Tennessee’s law banning dangerous gender transition procedures for minors. In a 6–3 ruling, the Court rightly affirmed that states have a legitimate interest in protecting children from irreversible medical harm. It rejected the radical claim that these laws are discriminatory and instead made clear: laws like Tennessee’s don’t target children for who they are—they prohibit experimental, harmful procedures based on a diagnosis of “gender dysphoria.”
This decision is a powerful rejection of the “trust the experts” mantra that has been used for years to justify the sterilization, mutilation, and permanent medical alteration of vulnerable children. The Court acknowledged emerging research, like the Cass Report from the UK, which exposes the medical establishment’s blind faith in so-called “gender-affirming care” and reveals the long-term dangers of these treatments.
Massachusetts, unfortunately, remains a national hotspot for this medical abuse. Behind the label of “gender-affirming care” lies a gruesome reality: boys being chemically castrated, girls being pushed into early menopause, and healthy body parts being amputated in the name of ideology. Boston Children’s Hospital proudly offers all of these procedures for minors and has become a national symbol of this movement. MFI uncovered that over $7.6 million in taxpayer funds were spent in Massachusetts from 2012 to 2022 to pay for these procedures for children.
This ruling doesn’t change the law in Massachusetts—yet—but it sets the stage for future action. It’s a warning shot to hospitals and activists who profit off the confusion and suffering of children. With a new administration in the White House, one that has pledged to strip federal funding from healthcare providers who mutilate children, the trans-industrial complex should be afraid for the future. We applaud Tennessee for defending vulnerable children from the predations of gender ideology, and we will continue to work to expose the truth here in the Commonwealth and fight for policies that protect kids from irreversible harm.
