Senator Lovely to testify on child sexual abuse prevention bills June 17

Senator Lovely is due to testify on five bills to the Joint Committees on Education and the Judiciary 



(BOSTON—6/13/2025) Senate Assistant Majority Leader Joan B. Lovely (D-Salem) announces that she will testify in support of five bills she filed focused on child sexual abuse prevention on June 17th before the Joint Committee on the Judiciary and the Joint Committee on Education. 



The Joint Committee on the Judiciary will hold a public hearing from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in State House Hearing Room A-2. Senator Lovely will testify before the Joint Committee on the Judiciary on four bills: 





  • S1163, An Act relative to sexual assaults by adults in positions of authority or trust 




  • S1165, An Act amending the statute of limitations regarding criminal prosecutions for the crimes of sexual assault and rape of a child 




  • S1166, An Act relative to enhancing hiring practices to prevent sexual abuse 




  • S1169, An Act enhancing remedies for survivors of childhood sexual abuse  





The Joint Committee on Education will meet from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in State House Hearing Room B-2. Senator Lovely will testify before the Joint Committee on Education on two bills: 





  • S.404, An Act relative to supporting survivors of child sexual abuse 




  • S.405, An Act stopping harm inflicted by the exploitation of life and development (SHIELD ACT) 





Both hearings will be available virtually at malegislature.gov
