Sudbury Kindergartners Forced to Observe Pride Week, Parents Sound the Alarm

Last month, we warned you about how some MA public schools were celebrating pride month early this year, and how others had scheduled drag-related events where students performed in drag! Now that June is in full swing, we have been receiving reports of other pride-related celebrations in MA schools. One of the worst examples has shown up in an elementary school in Sudbury.

Through our Massachusetts Informed Parents Facebook group, we learned that Loring Elementary School forced students to participate in a Pride Week emphasis that, amongst other things, included the video below.

This video, which includes two self-described “non-binary” children and other children talking about why attending Pride is good and fun, was reportedly followed by a writing assignment where students were required to describe “what makes you proud?” It was also reported that multiple parents had removed their children from school for the entire week because of this emphasis. One parent commented that she had asked for an opt-out for her kindergartner and was told that there “isn’t one.”

We wanted to learn more about Loring’s Pride Week, so we did some digging and found that some information about it had been shared at the Sudbury School Committee meeting on June 2nd. According to the meeting transcript, the pride lessons were created by the school’s Equity Committee. See the slides below presented at the June 2nd meeting.

We also obtained a screenshot of an email newsletter sent home to parents regarding the Pride Week. This email announces the emphasis, but does not provide any specific links to materials, curriculum, or videos that will be taught. It also contains an advertisement for a June 8th pride event at Curtis Middle School

Photos of that event have now surfaced online and depict a drag queen with large, false breasts reading a drag-glorifying book to young children. It is unknown whether or not this event was advertised directly to young students, though given the culture of the district, it is very possible that it was.

This isn’t the first time that Sudbury Public Schools have attracted attention for indoctrinating students. Last November, a Sudbury school committee candidate went viral on Libs of TikTok for publicly stating her support of allowing a student to identify as the opposite sex without parental consent. Many inappropriate books have also cropped up in Sudbury schools, including “Be Gay, Do Comics” and Let’s Talk About It, two graphic novels that glorify transgender surgeries for minors, pornography use, and promiscuous sex alongside depicting actual sex acts and genitalia. These books are made available in some elementary and middle schools in Sudbury.

Sudbury parents, it’s time to band together and push for change in the SPS. Don’t be gaslit into thinking that celebrations like Loring’s Pride Week are benign – this is indoctrination, pure and simple. SPS students deserve better, and parents should demand as much. If your children remain in the SPS next year and your administrator denies your right to opt your child out of activities or lessons about human sexuality, contact the Massachusetts Liberty Legal Center.

If you’re outside Sudbury and your school district held Pride-related events, especially at the elementary level, please let us know. We are actively tracking this issue and are ready to support Massachusetts parents in protecting their children.
