COLUMBUS, OHIO – May 15, 2025 – American Petroleum Institute Ohio Executive Director Chris Zeigler today issued the following statement in reaction to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signing House Bill 15 into law following bipartisan adoption in the state legislature:
“We applaud state policymakers for putting Ohio on a path toward a strong, secure future with forward-thinking policies to spur new power generation through market-driven solutions and leverage Ohio’s abundant natural resources. As Ohio draws in new power-intensive data centers and advanced manufacturing, abundant natural gas can help bolster the affordable, reliable baseload power needed to support Ohio’s rapidly growing economy. By leveraging our rich resource base, we can continue driving economic growth while strengthening American energy dominance.”
Numerous studies, including recent reports by the Ohio Business Roundtable and S&P Global, have shown that load growth may outpace current power supply.
