BOSTON, MA — Massachusetts Trial Court Chief Justice Heidi E. Brieger and Trial Court Administrator Thomas G. Ambrosino today announced the release of the Eviction Sealing Guided Interview, a free, online tool that guides individuals through the process of completing and electronically filing a Petition to Seal Eviction Records.
The step-by-step resource is the culmination of a collaboration between the Trial Court and Suffolk University Law School’s Legal Innovation & Technology Lab (LIT Lab) in response to the enactment of a new eviction sealing law, G.L. c. 239, § 16, taking effect on May 5, 2025.
“This online tool is designed to make it easier for individuals to file a petition to seal an eviction and to complete the filing with greater accuracy,” said Trial Court Chief Justice Brieger and Trial Court Administrator Ambrosino.
Information on sealing court records in eviction cases, including links to relevant forms, is available on the court’s website.
