Brown Rudnick Advises Bullrock Energy on $220M Solar Joint Venture With Apollo

Brown Rudnick served as legal counsel to Bullrock Energy Ventures in the formation of a $220 million joint venture with Apollo Global Management for a portfolio of community solar assets across New York and New England.
The companies announced the partnership on April 23, 2025. The joint venture will use $100 million of Apollo’s $220 million equity commitment to fund the development of Bullrock’s nearly 500 megawatt (MW) pipeline of renewable energy projects.
“Our partnership with Apollo enhances a leading vertically integrated renewables platform working to meet the growing demand for power while reinforcing American energy security,” Bullrock chairman and founder Gregg Beldock said in a statement. “Our long history in construction and development paired with Apollo’s integrated platform positions us to efficiently scale our portfolio.”
Based in Vermont, Bullrock is a renewable energy company that operates throughout the Northeast with a vertically integrated model encompassing deal sourcing, underwriting, development, construction, financing and asset management.
The Brown Rudnick team was led by partners Katy Gardner and Scott Smedresman. The team also included partners Jennifer Charles and Peter Farrell and associate Shirin Shahidi.
