Support energy storage for Everett

By Sam Lambert

Everett has played a major role in delivering energy to the New England region for nearly a century and until last year, was home to one of the country’s longest running power plants, the Mystic Generating Station. The retirement of this plant has brought with it a new opportunity, a gateway to clean energy, with the proposal of the Trimount Energy Storageproject.

This project proposes a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on the former oil terminal that will use the existing infrastructure to connect to the grid, providing a connection to clean energy that can be deployed in times of high demand, reducing reliance on fossil fuel peaker plants, stabilizing prices, and providing a number of benefits for the city of Everett.
