Press invited to Mass-Care Lobby Day
The Press is invited. Please let us know you are coming.
Mass-Care Lobby Day
On Tuesday, April 1, Mass-Care: the Massachusetts Campaign for Single Payer Health Care will hold its Lobby Day on Beacon Hill in Boston from 10 AM to 3 PM. It will begin with a rally at Church on the Hill (140 Bowdoin St). Afterwards, Lobby Day headquarters will be in Room 222 of the State House from 1 to 3 PM.
With over 100 activists registered to attend, Mass-Care intends to visit every legislator.
Mass-Care has introduced legislation to create a single-payer health care insurance system in Massachusetts. An Act Establishing Medicare for All in Massachusetts is S.860 and H.1405.
The Act would establish the Massachusetts Health Care Trust, which would be the single payer of health care costs of Massachusetts residents. It would replace insurance companies and certain government programs.
The savings under such a stream-lined and comprehensive system is estimated at 30% of current spending, over $37 billion. See https://masscare.org/economic-analysis/.
All medically necessary treatments would be covered. People could go to any doctor of their choice.
There would be no premiums, deductibles, co-pays, or other out-of-pocket expenses. The Trust Fund would receive existing Federal and State revenue (Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs) plus new tax revenue that replaces and is much lower than current insurance premiums and other out-of-pocket payments.
The Trustees – activists, officials, and experts from across the state – would be appointed by the Governor, Attorney General, and Governor’s Councillors.
###
Mass-Care’s mission is to establish a single payer health care system in Massachusetts so that all residents of the Commonwealth will have access to comprehensive, quality, and equitable health care, publicly financed and free of out-of-pocket cost at point-of-care, because it is basic to life and human dignity. The Mass-Care Coalition is now over 100 organizations.
