Announcing our 2025-2026 Legislative Priorities

March 3, 2025

By Jess Nahigian

The further we progress into 2025, the more clear it becomes that the Massachusetts legislature must prioritize ACTION. In the face of federal threats to things like clean energy and national parks, our hope for preserving our environment rests on states like Massachusetts. We must push back against destructive policies, yes, but we must also show the country and the world that we can truly have it all - a clean environment free from fossil pollution and harmful chemicals, robust public lands that protect ecosystems and benefit humans, good jobs and economic development, strong democratic values, and equity for the communities that have been most harmed by our policies.

Each top priority bill was chosen by our volunteer legislative team because it moves us toward that future. We are fighting back against destructive and expensive fossil fuels while lowering energy bills. We are working to dramatically reduce dangerous forever chemicals, PFAS, which are poisoning our water and our bodies. We are protecting our critical watersheds and forests by creating more permanent parks and reserves that are off limits to logging and other development. And we are putting our democratic values into practice by pushing our legislature to be more accessible, transparent, and accountable.

It is up to all of us to make sure that state legislators know how important these issues are to their constituents. That’s why we need you to contact them by calling or sending them a message asking them to show support by cosponsoring (adding their name to) these bills.

A better world starts with all of us. Thank you for using your voice - it is powerful.
