Statement of Common Cause President & CEO Virginia Kase Solomon:
“No one elected Elon Musk to any office, and we certainly didn’t vote for a billionaire to mess with the American people’s livelihoods. Since day one, Musk has created chaos and confusion and put livelihoods at risk. His unprecedented actions are deeply concerning and beg the question, who’s running this country: Donald Trump or Elon Musk?
“From the campaign trail to the White House, Elon Musk has been pulling the strings on this puppet president. He is accountable to no one but himself. In exchange for $200 million and influence over X to sway votes in the 2024 election, Trump has given up full control of our government to an unaccountable CEO.
“The Constitution only allows for one president at a time. It’s time Donald Trump take back his role as the executive in charge and show Elon the door.”
