Rep. Ayanna Pressley Sworn-In For Fourth Term in Congress
“I remain clear-eyed about the work ahead and committed to protecting our most vulnerable communities.”
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) was sworn-in for her fourth term in Congress andissued the following statement on the 119th Congress.
“Today I was humbled to once again take the oath of office as Congresswoman for the Massachusetts 7th. As I begin my fourth term in Congress, I am thinking of everyone who calls our district home – from the parent in Boston to the worker in Randolph to the veteran in Chelsea and folks all across the district. It is an honor and joy to serve as their Representative and I am deeply grateful to the residents of our district for their ongoing trust, support, and partnership.
“As we brace ourselves for the incoming administration and a Republican majority poised to inflict more hurt and harm, I remain clear-eyed about the work ahead and committed to protecting our most vulnerable communities, including our Black, brown, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and immigrant neighbors, and everyone who stands to be harmed by their anti-woman, anti-worker, and anti-democratic agenda. After six years in Congress—including two under a Trump Administration and two with a Republican House majority—I am resolved and well-prepared to continue advancing progress for my district and delivering the relief our communities demand and deserve. That includes working with our Governors, Attorneys General, and Democratic State Houses to stand in the gap and protect our fundamental rights.
“In the remaining days of his presidency, I urge President Biden to continue to use his clemency authority to reunite families and set them on a pathway to healing. We may have a new Congress, but Democrats still control the White House and we must move with urgency before January 20.
“While this moment may be difficult, I am ready, I will always center the people, and I will continue to govern like lives depend on it, because they do.”
