BOSTON — The Baker-Polito Administration today announced that starting Friday, November 25, 2022, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will open state-managed ice skating rinks for free public skating through the winter season, with the exception of Kelly Outdoor Rink in the City of Boston, which is scheduled to open on Saturday, December 17, 2022, weather permitting. To ensure a high level of access, for years, DCR has also offered adaptive programming during the winter season through the agency’s Universal Access Program. The Universal Access Program enables people of all abilities the opportunity to experience the state parks system and its many facilities through specially designed programming. To learn more about the program, please visit its webpage, where upcoming events can be found.
“DCR ice rinks provide excellent seasonal recreational opportunities that are enjoyed by both the young and the young of heart during the winter time,” said Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Doug Rice. “Every year we are excited to begin the season with our free public skating program, where many come to our ice rinks for the first time to learn to skate, and others participate in fun activities with friends and family.”
