Solomon McCown & Cence is now Issues Management Group
Solomon McCown & Cence is now Issues Management Group:
Just over two years ago, Helene Solomon and Ashley McCown entrusted me with their legacy, naming me CEO of the remarkable public relations agency they founded in 2003, and asking me to guide it into the future. Today, I am thrilled to announce two big steps towards that future.
First, Solomon McCown & Cence (SM&C) is merging with Murphy Donoghue Partners (MDP), adding one of Boston’s premier government relations teams to our incredible and growing lineup of public relations, crisis communications, public affairs, and digital experts.
Second, as the two firms come together, we are changing our name. Beginning today, both SM&C and MDP will operate as one company: Issues Management Group.
So, what does this mean?
We are growing in a strategic way that gives us more tools to put to work for you. Jack Murphy, Roger Donoghue, Maureen Glynn, Tara O’Donnell, and Kathy Bell of MDP add unmatched expertise in city and state relations to our team. More importantly, their addition builds on Helene and Ashley’s legacy of providing senior-level counsel to help our clients succeed at the intersection of business and policy.
More broadly, we are looking ahead to the future. As our clients and friends, you know that we are not a company that focuses on publicity for publicity’s sake. We take on the most difficult challenges and lead our clients to the best possible outcomes. Our new name, Issues Management Group, reflects the increasing complexity of today’s communications, government, business, and digital landscapes, and our critical role in shaping what’s to come.
On a personal level, I have been uniquely honored to have spent my career learning from incredible mentors in Helene, Ashley, Jack, and Roger. To be able to now bring their legacies, their experience, and their talent together is a dream come true.
Today represents a culmination of all they have taught me, and I can’t wait to get started.
Warm regards,
Dan Cence
CEO, Issues Management Group
