Quote of the Day

Last month, Archbishop Richard Henning of Boston helped craft a statement by the bishops of the United States that framed the treatment of immigrants as a test of Catholic values...This month, however, Henning has taken up a fight against the Rev. Stephen Josoma, the pastor of St. Susanna Parish in Dedham, and a nativity display at the church that replaced figurines of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph with the sign “ICE WAS HERE.” Calling it “politically divisive.
Henning urged compassion for immigrants, but now wants a Dedham parish’s “ICE WAS HERE” nativity protest removed as “politically divisive.” Vennochi say this contradicts his stance, suggesting his moral appeal falters when it challenges church control.
