Quote of the Day

I think Trump's anti-gravity superpower could mean that despite the continued low approval ratings for his policies, he's still sufficiently popular to not be a major drag in 2026. I still think we will pick up seats, and we may very well win the House, but I would not be surprised if Trump goes counter to conventional wisdom and somehow hangs onto a Republican House (especially if redistricting is a net gain for Republicans). Maybe I'm nuts, but I don't put anything past the guy any more. Americans like a strong president, and he's exerting strength in ways that we’ve never seen before. I don't think that the average American is all worked up and thinking this is anti-democratic like the Democratic poobahs think.
Chris Cillizza, a Democratic consultant, shares his view that Trump’s resilience could defy midterm norms, letting Republicans keep the House in 2026 despite low policy approval and Democrats’ expected gains.
