“In 1998, pollsters spent months asking questions about how voters would react if the Monica Lewinsky story was true,” Bill McInturff, a longtime Republican pollster, wrote ... “In August when President Clinton acknowledged what happened, the actual data did not look like the projected data at all of how people said they would react. Same thing here. I do not believe a Trump conviction would change the numbers as much as current polling says it would.”
According to data on how voters reacted to the Lewinsky-Clinton scandal, McInturff believes a Trump conviction would not have a big impact.
