KENNEDY STATEMENT ON MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Joe Kennedy III applauded the passage of a federal $15 minimum wage in the House of Representatives. Building on his call for ‘moral capitalism,’ Kennedy has been a vocal supporter of a $15 minimum wage in Massachusetts and nationally.

“Stagnate wages and eroding protections have denied American workers the American Dream that they were once promised. Because of the failure to raise the minimum wage and continued deference to the desires of corporations, employees can work hard, play by the rules and still end up in poverty. Moral capitalism begins with empowering workers so that they can provide the basic necessities for themselves and their families. This long-overdue raise for millions of Americans is an important step forward.”

Last month, Kennedy took to the House Floor to renew his calls for a more modern, moral economic system
