Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation Awards $25,000 Grant to Operation House Call

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation recently awarded The Arc of Massachusetts a grant of $25,000 for our Operation House Call (OHC) program.

Created in 2001, the mission of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation is to expand access to health care in Massachusetts through grantmaking and policy initiatives.

The goal of OHC is to improve health care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by educating future doctors, nurses, and medical professionals on how to work with people with I/DD and their families.

People with I/DD often face significant challenges in accessing health care and OHC aims to increase the number of medical professionals who are eager to treat people with disabilities and to expand their understanding of their needs.

“We are very grateful to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation for this grant to partially fund OHC and excited to have their support for this important work,” said Maura Sullivan, the program’s director. “This grant will have a big impact on our ability to offer the experience to more students and to recruit additional host families.”
