The Office’s Internal Special Audit Unit issued its Annual Report for 2018

This report includes:

• A review of design and construction costs for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's Veterans Memorial Bridge, in which the unit identified nearly $20 million in missed opportunities for cost savings;
• Information on the RMV’s Disability Placard Abuse Task Force, along with recent legislative changes to placard abuse penalties and education for the public and law enforcement; and
• An update on the unit’s 2016 review of allegations that a Boston chiropractor fraudulently obtained disability parking placards.
